MERIDIAN TOWN HALL MEETING SCHEDULED WITH SENATE LEADERSHIP

Public Encouraged to Present Recommendations for 2012 Legislative Session Meridian, ID - (January 25, 2012) - The City of Meridian will hold a legislative Town Hall meeting with members of the Senate Leadership on Wednesday, January 25th at 6:30 pm at Meridian City Hall. Assistant Majority Leader, Senator Chuck Winder who represents District 14 which includes north Meridian, has helped organize this event for the benefit of all Meridian citizens and businesses.

This Town Hall meeting will give the community an opportunity to offer ideas and opinions, gain insight, and ask questions about legislative issues relevant to our growing community. It will allow for the Senate Leadership to be educated on issues facing Meridian.

"As the third largest City, home to the largest school district, and one of the fastest growing economic corridors in Idaho, Meridian has many unique needs and perspectives," said Senator Chuck Winder. "This is a great opportunity for the Senate's leadership to learn about the issues impacting a growing urban community as we begin the 2012 legislative session."

In addition to hearing from the City, presentations will be made from the Meridian Chamber of Commerce, Joint School District #2, and Meridian's health-science and technology industry cluster, The CORE. Topics will include the Meridian Road Interchange, Distracted Driving, Corporate Income Tax, and various issues involving Federal Environmental Protection requirements.

Following the group presentations, citizens will be given an opportunity to provide comments on issues and ideas for the 2012 legislative session.

"We are excited that our citizens, business leaders, and educators will have the opportunity to speak to the Senate Leadership about issues what are of importance to them," said Mayor Tammy de Weerd. "I appreciate Senator Winder working with the City to make this event occur."
